The Hotel Saskatchewan, Autograph Collection

Regina, Saskatchewan

Originally built in 1927, the historic 224-key hotel is one of Canada’s grand railway hotels located in the center of downtown Regina overlooking Victoria Park. When designing the renovation of the 110,000 sqft iconic hotel, one of the main design objectives was maintaining the historic traits of its traditional bones while creating a luxurious contemporary and functional design.

In contrasting the new elements with the old, classical motifs were embraced and reinvigorated into a contemporary form. The hotel’s existing antique chandeliers and gilded wall mouldings were complimented with new dark wood accents, light marble stone floors, and a sophisticated colour palette of grey, blues, and golds which harmoniously blend the old and the new.

The lounge was transformed by designing a feature bar that overlooks the park, creating a visual connection between the interior space and the exterior landscape. The restaurant displays industrial vintage accents and traditional elegance to create a cozy environment, catering to a  variety of occasions and clientele.

Guest suites are adorned with regal tones of burgundy, gold, and indigo, and furnished with intricately detailed casegoods that recall Victorian-era craftsmanship. Damask-patterned textiles and motifs echoing the public areas create seamless continuity and a cohesive aesthetic throughout the property.
