The design vision was upscale meets beach featuring bright and warm palettes with a coastal vibe. The design used neutral colors,  contemporary eclectic furnishings and reclaimed wood to create a relaxed, but warm atmosphere. The collection of beach inspired art and accessories bring a laid-back, coastal cottage feel to the hotel.

VESPERA RESORT ON PISMO BEACH,

AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION, CA

The design mandate from the client was to create a hotel with the luxuries of a beachside house within a hotel setting.  As the story developed, the two slogans for the design of Vespera became “Barefoot Lux”, and “Your own beach house, only better”.  A minimalistic approach was taken with the reception area, however  the central living room is spacious and cozy with a fireplace area, and three separate seating areas that encourage guests to linger and socialize  as if it were their own living room.

The bar and restaurant areas were designed to flow cohesively from the lobby, but also have their own distinct feel of a relaxed beachside bistro.  This was achieved by carrying the wood flooring from the lobby into the bar and restaurant areas. Inspired by sandy shores, the walls feature a panel molding in warm gray tones, paired with millwork in a mix of black and warm oak tones with carrara marble. Elements of Restoration Hardware lighting and furniture were used to add a  rustic touch.

The guestrooms were designed  to be unpretentious and have an organic feel.  This was achieved using a light palette of neutral sand colors with soft accents in gray blue that reflect the endless blue skies and sandy beaches of Pismo Beach.   The bathrooms have a timeless look timeless with  carrara marble and white subway tiles. Most of the casegoods were provided by Restoration Hardware giving  the guestrooms that beachside yet residential upscale look  the client desired.
