Hospitality Design

Hager Design International (HDI) is the Interior Designer of Record for this 12-story boutique hotel, the second in the Virgin Hotel portfolio. The Virgin Hotel San Francisco's vibe was envisioned by Creative Director Matthew Rolston to blend San Francisco’s Victorian-era past with the city’s 1960s rock ’n’ roll reinterpretation of Victorian style. A tall glass partition separates the Shag Room from the Commons Club, a flagship restaurant, bar, and lounge designed to feel like a modern social club.

Feature accents of the brands signature 'Virgin Red' are thoughtfully used throughout the hotel's public areas, guest corridors  and  Chambers.  Bold red speakers in the Commons Club give nod to the hotel’s roots from the iconic Virgin Records brand.

COMMONS CLUB, VIRGIN HOTEL SAN FRANCISCO

The Commons Club showcases a modernized Victorian-era design with architectural elements like the bar's installation wall, furniture, millwork, chandeliers, and floor-to-ceiling windows with rich velvet curtains. Plush Vachetta leather bar stools invite long-term lounging, while a row of cafe-style bench seating by the window offers intimate conversation spots. The richly textured ceiling tiles and eye-catching bookshelf nooks add culinary and literary inspiration.
