The design vision was upscale meets beach featuring bright and warm palettes with a coastal vibe. The design used neutral colors, contemporary eclectic furnishings and reclaimed wood to create a relaxed, but warm atmosphere. The client’s vision was to create a hotel that captured the comforts and luxuries of a beachside home within a hospitality setting. As the design story evolved, two guiding themes emerged: “Barefoot Lux” and “Your Own Beach House, Only Better.” A minimalist approach was taken in the reception area, while the central living room offers a spacious yet cozy retreat, complete with a fireplace and three distinct seating areas that invite guests to relax and socialize as if in their own home.

The bar and restaurant were designed to flow naturally from the lobby while offering a distinct identity reminiscent of a relaxed beachside bistro. Continuity was achieved by extending the wood flooring from the lobby into these spaces. Inspired by sandy shores, the walls feature warm gray panel molding, complemented by millwork in a mix of black and warm oak tones with Carrara marble accents.
The guestrooms were designed with an unpretentious, organic feel, featuring a light palette of sandy neutrals and soft gray-blues that reflect the skies and shores of Pismo Beach. The bathrooms were designed to exude timeless elegance through the use of Carrara marble surfaces paired with classic white subway tiles—offering a clean, enduring backdrop. To reinforce the relaxed yet refined beachside aesthetic, most of the casegoods were sourced from Restoration Hardware, lending a sense of residential comfort with an upscale edge that perfectly aligned with the client’s vision.
