Saskatoon, SK, Canada

Located close to the airport and minutes from downtown, the Saskatoon Inn is a premier full service hotel and conference centre. The tropical interior courtyard with curving stone ramps creates a unique and stunning space to relax in. The hotel holds numerous functions in its 18 meeting rooms that total more than 29,000 sq. ft of space.

The goal of the re-design of the Saskatoon Inn and Conference Centre was to breathe new life and energy into this well-known unique Hotel.  The new contemporary design is inviting and textural to complement the botanical river-rock atrium; yet fresh and bold to propel the hotel into the 20th century.  Mid-century motifs such as the octagon shape and herringbone pattern were used to link the old with the new.  A palette of rich walnut woods, brushed bronze metals, warm greys, bright yellow-gold and deep blues was used for its warmth and richness.  It is complemented with sparkling new chandeliers and mirrors throughout many of the spaces that add an air of sophistication.  New amenities such as a Café serving Starbuck’s coffee, a business centre with laptop hook ups, a grab-and-go market place, a communal business café break-out area, and upgraded meeting rooms round out the design.

The new contemporary lobby design is welcoming and user-friendly with the addition of the floor to ceiling feature fireplace that highlights the double height ceiling and creates a more open and airy experience for the guests. Contemporary and sleek lounge furniture and in colors of gold, silver and charcoal add depth and texture to the space. The reception pods are anchored by a rich feature herringbone walnut wood to create a visual contrast from all the lineal lines and the sparkling glass pendants are highlighting it. In addition with the dynamic linear tile floor, the design leads guests into the space to the three reception desk pods.

The ballroom was redesigned as a functional multi-purpose space for business conferences, social events and weddings. The new design embraces a palette of warm grey, gold and blues is luxurious, and was selected for its classic timelessness. The contemporary/traditional carpet pattern was paired with a more whimsical patterned wallcovering to give the space a sense of understated elegance without being too formal for the many conferences held at this venue.  The grand stair case within the ballroom has been maintained for those brides who desire a grand entrance, and acts as a lovely backdrop for photos.  A lighting designer and electrical engineers were employed to create specific lighting environments to suit each occasion.  The changes in lighting make the space more functional and flexible for conferences as well as create a more elegant environment for wedding functions.  The Saskatoon Inn will be a sought after by businesses and brides alike.
