Hospitality Design

HGI Wilsonville, located just outside of Portland, Oregon, is a 118 room hotel project that blends custom designed public areas with prototype guestrooms to create an inspired and inviting guest experience. Our client desired a more upscale lounge feel for the public areas with more drama than a prototypical Hilton Garden Inn. The goal is to attract both guests and locals to dine at their restaurant in the evening. The challenge was we still needed to adhere to the brand directions for a colorful, textural, and airy design that complemented the “Bloom” HGI prototype design used within the guestrooms. The key programming of a HGI was maintained; but we injected the lobby and dining areas with more substantial rich toned millwork, sexy lighting features all paired with comfy textural furniture to create a more up-scale vibe desired by the client.

To achieve this balance and create an upscale vibe, more dynamic accents like multiple chevron patterns, and refined finishes were used. The reception desk and bar boast bold back-lit onyx, paired against darker walnut tone versus the lighter white oak tone typical of the Bloom Prototype. We added more wood paneling with metal accents throughout the property to create interest and drama that is cohesive as you move from the lobby to the lounge and into the pre-function area spaces. Real materials like marble paired with leather seating further enhance the overall luxurious feel of the lobby, dining room and lounge.
