INN AT THE QUAY
New Westminster, BC, Canada
West Coast Casual with a South Beach Twist is what you will find in this stylish boutique hotel located on the waterfront. The 30,000 square foot renovation included the lobby, guest rooms, corridors and fitness room. The $1 million dollar budget challenged the innovation of the team to work with the existing architecture lines of the building and achieve a bold transformation through purely cosmetic changes.
Upon entering the newly refurbished Lobby you are greeted by a custom floral hand tufted carpet which creates a striking platform for the seating area. Billowing white sheers soften the window façade playing on the architecture of the space by enhancing the height of the room. Waves of coloured panels anchor the room and add a presence from the exterior. The fireplace acts as a backdrop for the illuminated glass mobile pendant that hangs from the second level. As you make your way to the elevator arcade the sparkle of iridescent glass tile surround leads you to the corridors. Suite entries are adorned with a leather-like wall covering and anchored by a dramatic blue starfish patterned carpet.
When first entering the room your eyes are immediately drawn to the bold graphic floral headboard. The carpet is a subtle play on tone on tone, which creates the illusion of sand beneath your feet. Sapphire blues offset by jewel toned teals and aquamarines hint to water elements throughout the room. The drapery gradates from dark blue to a light cream. The washrooms were reinvented by way of an organic patterned wall covering adorned with silver starbursts, a sleek millwork counter is clad in crisp white quartz stone. Overall the rooms are crisp and clean with punches of bold purples and blues, hinting throughout to a beach inspired theme.
